What details to include in a notice
The key details that help families, churches, communities, and guests act on the information without confusion.
Useful notices usually include the person's full name, age if appropriate, town or area, date of passing, and whether the post is a death notice, funeral notice, memorial, or remembrance notice.
For the service itself, include the date, starting time, venue name, physical address, and any livestream or online viewing link. If there is a viewing, wake, church service, burial, or memorial gathering at different times, separate those details clearly.
It also helps to include a family contact, funeral home name, or a trusted organiser so that people know where to ask questions. When supplier information is relevant, it should support the notice rather than overwhelm it.
Avoid including private identity documents, certificate images, or sensitive family details that do not need to be public. Public notices should stay useful, respectful, and safe to share widely.
